Join the 2024 Run to Remember: Let’s Get Moving!
The Coast Guard Foundation’s Run to Remember started as a grassroots movement in 2011, when a group of Coast Guard members set out to change the way the community remembers the fallen by completing a "Run to Remember” as part of the Keys 100 Ultramarathon. Since then, people across the country have participated in the Run to Remember – as solo, single efforts; as part of organized events on Coast Guard bases; and on our behalf in local road races. Although called a run, we encourage participants to walk, run, or workout to remember those who died in service to our country through this special event.
Here’s everything you need to know to be a part of the 2024 Run to Remember:
Order this year’s Run to Remember T-Shirt: the primary way we honor our Coast Guard fallen heroes and their families is through a $27 t-shirt fundraiser that funds our tragedy assistance program. When you order a t-shirt, you will also receive an event poster and keepsake race bib. Pre-order sales can be placed now with an expected ship date of March 1. Run to Remember t-shirts can be ordered year-round thanks to our corporate sponsor, the American Steamship Owners Mutual Protection & Indemnity Association, Inc. (The American Club).
Sign-Up to Host a Run to Remember Event Where You Live: Organize a Run to Remember in your community, with your company, or at a Coast Guard base. Let us know your plans and we will promote them on our website and social media channels. We can help you with on-site t-shirt sales, event promotion, and the process of setting up a local run.
Wear Your Run to Remember T-Shirt at the Coast Guard Marathon: Order your t-shirt and get it in time to wear in the Coast Guard Marathon’s 5K, Half Marathon or Marathon on April 6 and 7! Register here for the race and join us in Elizabeth City, where we’ll be part of the Expo and race weekend events. You can also sign-up for a virtual event where you live through the Coast Guard Marathon’s remote participation option.
Join our Virtual 5K on Memorial Day: We host a nationwide virtual event on Memorial Day, May 27th. Get together with friends, family, and other members of your community to run or walk in honor of our fallen Coast Guard heroes and their families. You can order a 2024 commemorative t-shirt for your Memorial Day run and tag us in a social media post so together, #WeRemember.
But first, Workout to Remember on February 28: Before this year’s Run to Remember starts, you can first participate in the Aviation Workout to Remember. Learn more about this event here, or visit cgwodtoremember.com for more information.
