Coast Guard Foundation to honor Louisiana-based crews in New Orleans for Dramatic Rescue

The Coast Guard Foundation’s Tribute to the Eighth Coast Guard District event will take place in New Orleans on March 10. Honoring members serving in the Gulf Coast and Heartland – the event will return to the awe-inspiring National WWII Museum.

The Coast Guard Foundation’s Tribute to the Eighth Coast Guard District event will take place in New Orleans on March 10. Honoring members serving in the Gulf Coast and Heartland – the event will return to the awe-inspiring National WWII Museum.

The Foundation will recognize the Coast Guard rescuers who saved three recreational fishermen from shark-infested waters off Empire, Louisiana, on Oct. 9 after their boat capsized in rough weather. The story of the fishermen’s survival and the daring rescue made headlines and captivated news viewers late last year.The Commandant of the Coast Guard Admiral Linda Fagan, Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Heath Jones, and other national and regional leaders will attend, as will Coast Guard members from throughout the Gulf Coast.

The event will start with a reception at 6:30 p.m. and include after-dinner dancing.
