Donate Stocks

Donating stocks allows you to avoid capital gains tax and often take a charitable deduction for the full value of the asset. Use our tool to donate stock so we can track your gift, send you the correct receipt, and you can get the tax savings you deserve.

Stock gifts are gratefully accepted and easily transferred into the Foundation’s account at Merrill Lynch.

Donors who wish to contribute securities should provide the following information to their broker:

• Merrill Lynch’s DTC number is 8862;

• The Coast Guard Foundation’s account number at Merrill Lynch is 880-04191.

Unless otherwise specified by the donor, the Foundation assumes that the gift is for unrestricted purposes, and will sell the stock upon receipt. Donors are credited with a tax-deductible contribution equal to the average of the high and low value of the stock on the day of transfer.
