ATC Mobile's Coast Guard Day Celebrations

Every August 4, we celebrate Coast Guard Day. It was on this day in 1790 the first Congress authorized the construction of ten vessels to enforce tariff and trade laws and to prevent smuggling. As the nation’s oldest sea service, the U.S. Coast Guard has continued to evolve since that day, always ready to answer the call.

As the nation’s oldest sea service, the U.S. Coast Guard has continued to evolve since that day, always ready to answer the call.

And to celebrate the service’s 230th birthday, thanks to the generosity of First Command, we were able to provide health and wellness funds for those at U.S. Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile.

The center hosted celebrations over three days which included lunch for the crews, gift certificates for the competitors of their ‘Coast Guard Day Birthday Cake Bakeoff’, and a Coast Guard Foundation goody bag for all.

Initiatives such as these help members remain always ready for their assignments. And during these times, with the added pressures of working through COVID-19, ensured that members could celebrate Coast Guard Day while maintaining social distancing guidelines.
