Important Information Regarding COVID-19 and the Coast Guard Foundation
We continue to monitor the COVID-19 virus. The health of our staff, board members, donors, and those we support in the United States Coast Guard are our top priority.
We have made some adjustments to our program and upcoming events to accommodate the current situation.
2020 Coast Guard Foundation Scholarship Season: The scholarship application deadline is extended by two weeks to March 29, as many schools have closed, making it difficult for students to access information. Please visit our scholarship application portal at coastguardfoundation.org/apply to complete your applications. If you have any issues at all, please reach out to Sage Williams at swilliams@coastguardfoundation.org. Email and text communication is best at this time.
Youth Enrichment Program: We are reviewing our planned summer camp grant program for Coast Guard families in Hawaii and San Diego. We want to be sure that the program will launch successfully and consider appropriate COVID-19 safety recommendations.
Coast Guard Foundation Run to Remember: For the time being, scheduled Run to Remember events are postponed. Your health and wellness are our top priority, and we are following guidelines that discourage large, public gatherings. Once we are able, we will contact run coordinators to reschedule and plan the rest of the year’s events. In the meantime, you can support the Run to Remember movement by purchasing a 2020 t-shirt.
Ft. Lauderdale Event: We have rescheduled our Fort Lauderdale dinner currently planned for September 23.
Hawaii Dinner: Our Hawaii Dinner is now rescheduled for Thursday, August 27. We will activate the event registration very soon.
NY/NJ Golf Tournament: Our Staten Island golf tournament has been rescheduled for Monday, October 19.
Coast Guard Foundation Operations: Effective immediately, the Coast Guard Foundation is suspending travel for employees through March 31. Our staff has all the tools needed to shift to a remote workplace should that be necessary. Please continue to reach us through email and phone, or social media messaging. For those events that are beyond May 31, we will continue to monitor the WHO and CDC guidelines, along with state and local government recommendations, with the intent of protecting our Coast Guard Foundation team, Coast Guard members and families, and our generous supports and partners.
