Honoring Fallen Heroes
The Coast Guard Foundation honors fallen heroes by investing in the futures of their children. Through the Fallen Heroes Scholarship program, children of Coast Guard members who died in operational, line-of-duty service receive support that covers 100% of higher education expenses, allowing them to attend college or trade school debt-free.
These scholarships help students move forward with confidence while honoring the service and sacrifice of the parent they lost. By removing financial barriers, the Foundation creates opportunity and long-term stability for families navigating profound loss.
Support also extends to younger children through booster grants, which provide year-round enrichment opportunities such as academic support and summer camp. In 2025, 11 children received scholarships and booster grants, including seven students whose college or trade school costs were fully covered. In 2024, 13 surviving children received support.
Honoring fallen heroes means more than remembering their service. It means caring for their families, investing in their children, and ensuring their sacrifice is never forgotten.
Today, Kade is pursuing an electrical engineering degree at Georgia Tech. His scholarship helps cover 100% of his higher education expenses, allowing him to focus on his studies and future without the burden of financial uncertainty.
Kade’s story reflects the purpose of the Fallen Heroes Scholarship program: honoring the service and sacrifice of Coast Guard heroes by investing in the future of their children.
