Why We’re Excited for this Year’s Coast Guard Marathon (And You Should Be Too!)
The Coast Guard Foundation is heading to Elizabeth City, North Carolina, next week for the 2025 Coast Guard Marathon and we are beyond excited for it!
What makes the Coast Guard Marathon so special? First, Elizabeth City is home to one of the busiest Coast Guard bases in the country that more than 2,000 active-duty and civilian employees from the following units call home:
- Aviation Logistics Center
- Aviation Technical Training Center
- Air Station Elizabeth City
- Station Elizabeth City
- Aviation Projects Acquisition Center
- National Strick Force Coordination Center
The Coast Guard Marathon, celebrating its fifth year, is open to everyone, including the general public, all branches of the military, and the running community at large. Our Coast Guard Foundation team will be at the Marathon Expo on Friday and Saturday to meet race participants and guests and share our mission and ways we support Coast Guard members. You’ll also find us cheering on everyone at the 1K Fun Run and 5K Road Race on Saturday, and at the start and finish lines for the Half and Full Marathons on Sunday. After the races on Sunday, you can find us at the Finisher Fest, celebrating everyone who earned a medal crossing the finish line.
This year, we are also proud to serve as presenting sponsor for the event.
"We are excited to partner with Base Elizabeth City for the Coast Guard Marathon,” said Susan Ludwig, Coast Guard Foundation president. “This event is more than just a race—it’s a celebration of Coast Guard members’ dedication, resilience, and sacrifice, and the ways they serve our nation every day. We can’t wait to give a round of applause to the runners, volunteers, and everyone who is part of this Coast Guard event.”
