Grants for Coast Guard Spouses Enrolled in College, Trade School, Professional Certification Programs

At the Coast Guard Foundation, we understand the unique challenges and sacrifices that Coast Guard spouses face, and we are dedicated to supporting you in your educational and professional pursuits.

2024 Coast Guard Foundation Spouse Education Grant Season: Coast Guard spouses enrolled in college and trade school, or pursuing professional licenses and certifications, may apply for a Coast Guard Foundation spouse grant to cover tuition, fees, supplies, and related education expenses incurred during the 2024 calendar year.

Grant awards are $1,000 and limited to one grant a year.  If a spouse received a grant during round one of funding in January, they are ineligible for round two.

Coast Guard Foundation Spouse Education Grant:

  • Application Period: August 1-December 1, 2024
  • Eligibility: Grants benefit non-military spouses of active-duty, enlisted Coast Guard members in paygrades E-1 – E-8.
  • Grant Purpose: CGF grants can cover tuition, fees, supplies, and related education expenses incurred during the 2024 calendar year.
  • Grant Amount: $1,000

2024 Holly Knight Delta Dental Spouse Grant
Holly Knight received a Coast Guard Foundation Delta Dental spouse education grant last year. "This grant is going to help me pay for my board exams for dental hygiene. Thank you so much for awarding it to me. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity."

Application Process

  • Grants are awarded in the order they are received, provided all eligibility requirements have been met.
  • Education and training programs must be at a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
  • Priority is given to spouses of members E-6 and under. If sufficient funds are available, spouses of E-7 and E-8 members will be offered a grant based on the date of their completed application.
  • Priority is given to spouses pursuing first degrees (associates and bachelors), licenses, and certifications. If sufficient funds are available, grants will be offered for second degrees.
