Coast Guard Members

As the Coast Guard evolves, advanced education, technical training, and professional certifications are increasingly important for career growth and mission readiness. While members can access the G.I. Bill and Coast Guard tuition assistance, those programs do not always cover the full cost of coursework, books, fees, licensing, or specialized training.

The Coast Guard Foundation helps close those gaps through education grants and workforce development programs that support continuing education, professional credentials, and career-building training. Members can receive individual grants to help cover remaining educational costs or participate in unit-based classes that provide practical training aligned with Coast Guard mission needs.

Foundation-supported opportunities include captain’s license courses, advanced culinary training, technical certifications, and college coursework in fields such as cybersecurity, information technology, and maritime leadership. These investments help members build skills, reduce financial stress, and prepare for both military advancement and civilian careers after service.

In 2025, the Foundation provided more than $400,000 in support to 482 Coast Guard members, including 349 workforce development participants and 133 off-duty education grant recipients. By investing in member education, the Foundation is strengthening readiness across the service and helping Coast Guard professionals build successful futures.
