How to Apply for a Coast Guard Foundation Spouse Grant
It’s spouse grant open season here at the Coast Guard Foundation!
From January 18-February 28, eligible Coast Guard spouses may apply for a grant to support their college and professional training goals. Our program awards $500 grants to cover tuition, fees, supplies and related education expenses. A second program funded through Delta Dental provides $2,000 grants for Coast Guard spouses pursuing degrees in oral health, medical and nursing, and wellness professions.
The application is hosted on our scholarship portal here: coastguardfoundation.org/spouse-scholarships
The finer details to consider when applying:
- Grants benefit non-military spouses of enlisted Coast Guard members in rates E3-E6.
- Education and training programs should be at a regional or national accredited institution.
- Priority will be given to spouses pursuing first degrees: associates, bachelors, licenses, and certifications.
- Grants are awarded in the order they are received, provided all eligibility requirements have been met.

Thank you for this scholarship. It was instrumental in getting me started in school and on the right path.

About the Coast Guard Foundation Spouse Grant Program:
For Coast Guard spouses, achieving higher education or professional licensing and certification boosts a family’s financial stability and gives them personal fulfillment. The Coast Guard Foundation offers grants and scholarships to spouses so that they have everything they need to provide for their family and strengthen their well-being.
The Coast Guard Foundation Lisa Cook Reed spouse grant program has made a difference in hundreds of Coast Guard families' lives since it began in 2010. In 2019, a partnership with Delta Dental created a new grant and scholarship opportunity to support Coast Guard spouses pursuing degrees in the medical, oral health, and wellness professions.
I graduated with honors and I am currently working as an RN. I have the scholarship to thank for being part of that success.
