As a non-profit, the Coast Guard Foundation relies on the generosity of corporations, foundations, individuals and groups to fund the many programs and projects we provide that support the men and women of the Coast Guard and their families. One such company, L-3 Communications, has supported the Foundation for many years in many capacities, funding projects around the country which support enlisted members and their families, as well as programs at the Coast Guard Academy that benefit the future officer corp.

The Coast Guard Foundation Pacific Area Award was presented to Coast Guard Station San Francisco Boat Crew 25501 on Wednesday, May 16, for a rescue on Father's Day last year, saving a father and his two children from the cold waters of San Francisco Bay.

The Coast Guard community lost a dear friend recently, when Captain Paul E. Deveau passed away from cancer on April 25. To honor his memory, anonymous donors have generously spearheaded a $50,000 matching gift campaign for the newly established Paul E. Deveau Scholarship Fund here at the Coast Guard Foundation.

Angus R. Cooper, a Coast Guard Foundation trustee, contributed $35,000 to the Family Disaster Relief Fund through a special promotion at his Mobile-area restaurants following the tragedy of the crash of CG-6535 in Mobile, Alabama earlier this year.

Coast Guard units from New York to Boston and beyond got a sweet surprise last week when the Girl Scouts of Connecticut donated 5,200 boxes of their world-famous cookies to be distributed throughout the Northeast as part of their Cookies for Heroes campaign.

The Coast Guard Foundation is proud to support the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and the Law of the Sea Institute of California's Berkeley School of Law's Leadership for the Arctic conference that will take place on April 12th and 13th, 2012 in New London, Connecticut.

On Good Friday, April 6th, the Coast Guard Foundation celebrated the Coast Guard with a tribute dinner in Honolulu. The dinner recognized Coast Guard members of the 14th District who protect the shores of Hawaii to the distant reaches of Guam and American Samoa. The gala also honored U.S. Senator Daniel K. Akaka and Mrs. Mildred Akaka for their years of service to the men and women of the Coast Guard, and showcased Hawaii's unique history and culture.

The Coast Guard Foundation is pleased to a partner with the Miami Chief Petty Officer's Association on the 2nd Annual "Run To Remember," which raises scholarship funds in memory of all Coast Guard personnel who have died in the line of duty since 1992.

The Coast Guard Foundation gathered 500 strong in New Orleans on Friday, March 2nd to honor the bravery and fortitude of Coast Guard members who live and work in the 8th Coast Guard District, which ranges from the Gulf Coast to the inland waterways of the Midwest.

We honored the crew of CG-6553 stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas, recognizing its bravery under very adverse conditions when it rescued two people from a sinking sailboat on November 13, 2011.

The Coast Guard Foundation is supporting the families affected by the crash of CG-6535 in Mobile, Alabama on the night of Feb. 28. All four crew members perished in the crash. Please join us in offering our deepest sympathies to the families impacted by this incident. The Coast Guard Foundation raised funds to pay for the memorial service for the crew, which was held on March 8 in Mobile.
