At the annual meeting on October 13, the Foundation's Board of Trustees voted to confer emeritus status to three members who have faithfully served the organization over a combined 37 years. The staff and board thank these individuals for their tireless support of the Foundation, and wish them well in their future endeavors.

VADM Richard D. Herr, USCG (Ret.) joined the Coast Guard Foundation Board of Trustees in 1999, and in that time served on many board committees and as treasurer of the board since 2003. While on active duty in the Coast Guard, Admiral Herr served as Vice-Commandant and worked closely with the Foundation to support enlisted members and their families, as well as cadets at the Coast Guard Academy.

Jean Jacques "J.J." Marie also joined the Coast Guard Foundation Board of Trustees in 1999, and in that role, has lead the public relations/communications committee since it was first established in 2004. As president of Zodiac of North America, J.J. supported the Foundation's many programs and worked with others in the marine manufacturing industry to further that support. Mr. Marie is also a member of the Foundation's legacy club, the Munro Society.

RADM Marshall "Ed" Gilbert, USCG (Ret.) joined the Coast Guard Foundation board of trustees in 1998, after first establishing the very successful Washington D.C. Area Scholarship Golf Tournament in 1995. Over the course of the tournament's history, more than $1.5 million has been raised for scholarships for children of Coast Guard members.

They are shining examples of what one person can do to make an impact on an entire service, through quiet, selfless determination," said Anne Brengle, Coast Guard Foundation President.
