Holiday Gifts for Coast Guard Recruits

The Jersey Cape Military Spouses’ Club organizes gifts for new Coast Guard recruits who are in basic training at the Christmas holiday.  This year, the Coast Guard Foundation partnered with Navy Federal Credit Union to help make the recruits’ stockings a success.

The stockings contain gifts and supplies intended to help Coast Guard members in training, like a toothbrush, toothpaste, lip balm, hand lotion, hand sanitizer and other personal hygiene items, gift certificates to local restuarants they frequent during off -base liberty and holiday cards from local school children.

For many recruits, this is the first time they are away from home at the holidays, and the gift bag is a way to make them feel connected to their own families as well as the Coast Guard family at large.

The stockings will be presented to the recruits at a holiday gathering on Christmas Eve.
