At a reception on January 23, 2013 at Coast Guard Headquarters, Coast Guard Foundation staff member Patricia Gross was honored with a Coast Guard Distinguished Public Service Award by Commandant of the Coast Guard, Admiral Bob Papp.
The occasion was bittersweet, as Patti has now moved on from her work at the Foundation and has taken a new position in the Washington, D.C. area.
"For the past seven years, Patti has served the Foundation in a variety of roles, including annual fund, special events, corporate giving and government relations. And all told, she's spent more than 29 years serving Coast Guard members and their families, including her time spent at the Coast Guard Academy and its Alumni Association. We wish her the best of luck and thank her for her service to the Foundation and to Coast Guard families all across the country," said Anne B. Brengle, Coast Guard Foundation President.
The service award states, in part: "The Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard takes great pleasure in presenting the Coast Guard Distinguished Public Service Award to Patricia A. Gross in recognition of her steadfast commitment to enhance the education, welfare and morale of Coast Guard men and women and families...Mrs. Gross' selfless dedication and distinguished service are most heartily commended and are in keeping with the highest tradition of the United States Coast Guard."
