The Coast Guard Foundation is pleased to a partner with the Miami Chief Petty Officer's Association on the 2nd Annual "Run To Remember," which raises scholarship funds in memory of all Coast Guard personnel who have died in the line of duty since 1992.
Last year, Coast Guard Lieutenant Brian Bruns ran the Race to Remember solo, endeavoring on the 100-mile ultra-marathon in the Florida Keys in honor of all the Coast Guard personnel who have died since 9/11. LT Bruns raised money from family, friends and colleagues in support of his race, which he donated to the Foundation's Fallen Heroes Scholarship Fund.

This year, the Miami CPOA and LT Lucy Love have seriously ramped up their efforts with the 2nd Annual "Run To Remember," which will take place over the weekend of May 19-20. Instead of just one person running the monster KEYS 100 race, Love has coordinated eight teams of six people, who will run the race relay-style, two miles at a time. Each team member is running in memory of the 48 Coast Guard heroes who have died in the line of duty over the past 20 years.
As a way to raise money, the "Run To Remember "organizers are selling t-shirts commemorating the race. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the t-shirt sales will benefit the Coast Guard Foundation's Fallen Heroes Scholarship, which benefits the dependents of those Coast Guard personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
With the recent tragedy of the crash of CG-6535 still fresh in the minds of the Coast Guard community, the "Run To Remember" serves as a truly great way to honor the brave Coast Guard personnel who gave their lives in service of their country.
Please join us in honoring these individuals.
