Mr. Flynn is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He has served on the Coast Guard Foundation board since 2002. Prior to becoming the chairman of the board, Bob served as vice chairman for several years. Bob is also a familiar face at the Salute to the U.S. Coast Guard, our New York City awards dinner, where he has served as the master of ceremonies for the past five years.
Bob recalls the generosity of the Foundation from his time as a cadet at the Coast Guard Academy, class of 1974. The Foundation had provided vans that cadets used to get around town or to sporting events.

"We didn't have cars as underclassmen," Bob recalled. "We were grateful to the Foundation, because it allowed us some additional fun and the ability to get around."
When he joined the board of directors, Bob saw an opportunity to give back to the Foundation that had benefited him as a young Coast Guardsman.
"I'm happy to be a part of the Foundation as a way to return the favor of the support we received at the Academy in my early life," he said.
He holds a B.S. degree from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, after which he served as a Commissioned Officer with the U.S. Coast Guard from 1974-1979. He joined the commercial ship broker, MJLF & Assoc. Inc., in 1979. He is currently president of the company. Bob is a member of The American Bureau of Shipping, and the Society of Maritime Arbitrators, New York.
