The Coast Guard Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of
The Commander Daniel J. Christovich Scholarship Fund in honor of
Commander Christovich’s retirement earlier this year after 23 years of
distinguished service.
The Chrstovich family wanted to find a
meaningful way to celebrate Dan’s longtime service in the Coast Guard,
therefore they decided to establish a scholarship fund in his name
which will remain in perpetuity at the Foundation. Each year, a
Commander Daniel J. Christovich scholar will be named and the
Foundation will award the deserving student of an enlisted person a
$2,500 scholarship for undergraduate studies.
Commander
Christovich is a 1985 graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy
and earned an MBA from George Mason University. His career assignments
include Deck Watch Officer aboard CGC Jarvis, Commanding Officer of CGC
Cape George, Officer In Charge of Law Enforcement Detachment 7th
District, and several key staff officer positions though out Coast
Guard Headquarters.
In the latter of his career, Commander
Christovich expanded his concentration in the Financial Management
arena. He has worked for the Coast Guard Chief Financial Officer in the
Office of Policy and in the Office of Financial Systems. Upon
retirement, he was the Chief of Program, Budget & Execution
Division for the Office of Command, Control, Communications, Computers
and Information Technology. Commander Christovich is also the
